Hemorrhoid Treatments

Hemorrhoid Treatments

Hemorrhoids can often be treated at home. However it is important to understand that hemorrhoids can become a serious health issue. If any symptoms continue for more than a week, make an appointment with Dr. Gabriel Akopian.

  • Blot rectal area clean after bowel movements. Moistened wipes such as baby wipes work well for this. Use soap that is free of scents or dyes.
  • Pat area dry with a clean, absorbent towel or toilet paper.
  • Take pain relievers such as ibuprophen, acetomenophen, or asprin.
  • Hot-and-Cold Therapy. Apply ice for ten minutes and then apply a warm compress for another 10 minutes.
  • Enjoy a sitz bath. Fill the tub with only enough warm water to immerse anus in water.
  • Wear cotton underwear to avoid excessive moisture.

Although these remedies will work temporarily, Hemorrhoid removal or surgery is often a true SOLUTION for hemorrhoids.

The following are possible treatments for hemorrhoids:

HET – Non Surgical Hemorrhoid Treatment

The HET procedure is a non-surgical, minimally-invasive, treatment option for hemorrhoids. This Bipolar System is a gentle, simple, and efficient treatment for low grade hemorrhoids in a single procedure. By using low power energy, this procedure is effectively painless and takes only seconds to complete!

Rubber Band Ligation

This simple office based procedure is done without need for anesthesia and uses tiny rubber bands to shrink hemorrhoidal veins and tack up droopy hemorrhoidal tissue.

Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids

Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids (PPH) – Otherwise known as The PPH Procedure, stapled hemorrhoidectomy, stapled hemorrhoidopexy, and circumferential mucosectomy. This procedure is implemented when the muscular tissue that supports the pelvis weakens and breaks. Because of this, the hemorrhoidal tissue may begin to protrude. The PPH procedure uses an internal tucking and stapling device to restore hemorrhoidal tissue back into a normal position.
